[A door slams. Thor strides into his royal bedchambers, too distracted to notice just yet that his bedroom isn't just that anymore, strictly speaking. He lets Mjölnir slip from his fingers and hit the floor with a sickening crush, cracking the opulent stone beneath it.
He had taken Loki home to Asgard in chains, brought him to trial before the Allfather. He still isn't certain whether or not it was mercy that led Odin to strip Loki of his powers and have him dragged away, to be bound to the rocks. He isn't certain whether it was love or guilt that had compelled him to argue, the only voice raised in Loki's defense amongst all of them. His words fell on deaf ears, either way. Even Loki hadn't seemed to be listening.
His friends had wanted words with him afterward, but he'd brushed them off. He had wanted words with Loki -- any words, some more important than others -- but his father had denied him that. He wonders if Loki would have done the same, had the choice been put to him.
