[ If you've met Yuuki before, there might be something unsettlingly familiar about the girl who's currently curled up in one corner of a sofa. She's utterly absorbed in the contents of the file folder she's got balanced on her legs, until she flips the folder shut and looks up, as if trying to memorize something-- and then her face falls, abruptly. ]

Aw, you're kidding me!

[ She brightens up again quickly, though, tucking the folder under the cushion and addressing the Room at large. ]

Hey, let's play a game. Like, truth or dare, or the question game, or something? Please?

As successful as he could expect, I think. I mean, he was very clever at making it really innocent, so maybe I'm just paranoid, but I'm pretty good at deflecting.

Yeah, that's right. [ That miiiight be a tiny bit of hopefulness in her voice. ]

Would that be why you're not particularly good at it?

[ Her mouth falls open. ] You-- That was sneaky. [ But she's been pulling that on everyone else; it's only fair. ]

Is it still my fault if I didn't know we were playing already?

Was it? I had no idea. [Except she did.]

Absolutely, it is. You'd have done the same, wouldn't you?

Well, yeah, but--! I guess I'll just have to be more vigilant from now on, since I have a skilled opponent. What's your name?

I'm Yuuki. It's nice to meet you, Narcissa-- er, can I call you Narcissa? Should I call you Ms. Black instead?

Narcissa is fine. I'm certainly not old enough to be a Ms.-- besides, that's for divorcees.

Yuuki... where's that from?

I didn't mean-- only that-- [ a pause, so she can figure out how to phrase it. ] It's just that you seem really sophisticated, like people are supposed to refer to you with a prefix-- like I'm supposed to refer to my teachers. You know.

Yuuki's a Japanese name-- my parents are from there, but I was born in the US. Where are you from?

...ah. Well, if you insist on formality, you may address me as Miss Black, but I don't think it's necessary.

[American. Well, nobody's perfect.]

Oh, I see. I did wonder; your accent seemed a touch incongruous with your appearance, though I suppose I ought not be surprised about that sort of thing here.

Does Yuuki mean anything?

Nah, I think Narcissa's good. I was just making sure, the teachers I know can get really touchy about that stuff.

London, wow. I wish I could go to London-- actually I visited a friend in Oxford once, that's kind of close, right?

'Yuuki' is-- well, it's written with the characters for courage and hope, so it's something like that. Are you interested in foreign languages and stuff?

It's close enough, I suppose. Travel is quite easy.

Nope, but I sure wish I could. I keep trying to learn little bits of different ones, but I never get very far. I'm not even very good at Japanese, even though I'm taking it in school. How about you, do you speak any other languages?
