[ If you've met Yuuki before, there might be something unsettlingly familiar about the girl who's currently curled up in one corner of a sofa. She's utterly absorbed in the contents of the file folder she's got balanced on her legs, until she flips the folder shut and looks up, as if trying to memorize something-- and then her face falls, abruptly. ]

Aw, you're kidding me!

[ She brightens up again quickly, though, tucking the folder under the cushion and addressing the Room at large. ]

Hey, let's play a game. Like, truth or dare, or the question game, or something? Please?

Got way too distracted by other things, I guess. Does the possibility of it freak you out that much?

Um, it's this game where everything you say has to end in a question-- like, you could ramble on for hours as long as the other person doesn't interrupt you and you end with a question. Do you want to play?

[well that's weird, why does that girl seem so familiar? maybe she's... related to someone he knows, or something?]

That's... my name, yeah. [ Which, when coupled with the very telling grin on her face, sort of gives the game away. ]

[WELP it's hardly the strangest thing that's happened, maybe Yuuki just likes being a girl sometimes and this is the first he's seen of it.] ...all right, then. What's all this about?

I'm helping someone with an experiment. Sort of. What gave it away?

Lucky guess. [this is not entirely true, but trying to explain vampire senses often comes across as kind of creepy.] Is this another school thing?

I showed up in the Room doing something weird. When does that happen when it's not a school thing?

Then I have a follow-up question: does this experiment somehow involve you ending up in yet another situation of serious physical danger?

Um... In the long-term, it's supposed to reduce the danger I'm in. In the short-term, not as much as usual, but maybe?

...what?

Oh, fine. I mean, in the short-term, yes, I'm going out on a job, but it's relatively safe and it'll help with the long-term. Better?

How, exactly, will being female help you survive these things?

If a girl shows up on the next job where people are expecting me to show up, it breaks the pattern. So if people have been connecting working-me with my actual identity, it'll throw them off. It's just temporary-- You didn't think I was gonna be a girl forever, did you?

I am honestly beyond drawing any conclusions about what you do and why, at this point.

--Ha, you broke it, I win!

I don't think I'd really want to be a girl forever, honestly. I'm just testing out the illusion now, making sure it holds up for long enough and doesn't make me sick or anything, and I'm supposed to get twelve hours out of it. More now, probably, with the Room's intervention.

Broke w-- I wasn't playing! How... accurate of an illusion -- never mind, I don't need to know these things.

It sure sounded like you were! You know, need and want are two different things, and if you're curious...
