[There's a pile of books beside the beanbag this wolf is sitting in, a collection that seems to dip into some fairly advanced magic. Remus frowns as he flips through the pages. He's decided that he really ought to take advantage of his time here, and this little studying session promises to be the first of many. He seems preoccupied, though, and occasionally stares off into the corner of the room instead of at the pages before him, thinking about all he has to look forward to when he heads back to the cottage.]

I didn't need to search too far. The name 'Loki' came up, and I knew the rest.

[It takes him a while, but when he speaks, his voice is amused, if a little bewildered that there was so much written of them, when they came to Midgard so many centuries ago.]

Prejudice? You don't think I deserved it? I did cause them embarrassment, through stealth and tricks.

... I've decided, especially in this place, to try not to judge others without hearing from them personally.

[entrailbound]

So says a wolf to a snake. I remember hearing that your condition meets prejudice enough.

Oh... [Wry chuckle.]

I have quite a share of that, true enough. I am... an impoverished, unemployable, Mudblood... [For Merlin's sake, like a god would care, just say it and try to get used to it.] homosexual werewolf. You can imagine where I stand in the social hierarchy.

Only when you describe those traits to be undesirable. I have no knowledge of your society, after all.

What does being a Mudblood mean?

My mother had no magic. She was a "Muggle," as those in my world say; I inherited my magic only from my father. There are many in my world who consider me to be "dirtied" by this fact. My blood is, to them, impure.

[entrailbound]

Is the magic you inherit indeed affected by such a union? [It's not his intent to offend, he merely wants to know]

No. There is no indication that ability is affected by birth.

[entrailbound]

I've yet to see the kind of magic you do. [He gestures, to Remus, and cocks his head.]

Is that a request?

[entrailbound]

You may take it as one.

Well. Merlin, I don't know what you expect to see.

[Let's give him a little tour? Remus Apparates several times, popping and out in different locations around Loki, setting off fireworks, creating blinding flashes of light, and then shooting chains that twine around Loki like constricting snakes and then levitate him up into the air.]

[entrailbound]

[The first loud crack of the Apparitions startle Loki, but as his eyes trace Remus across the room, they get less jarring. He smiles at the display, beginning to get a feel for the kind of magic that mortals use- similar, in a way, yet so different, and almost chuckles when the chains take him into the air.]

Impressive. But not quite the extent of it, I think?

[novumlupine]

[He lets Loki gently back down to the ground, looking at him curiously.] What would you like to see?

[entrailbound]

[A light shrug] Something more than tricks to entertain, perhaps? [He opens his hands, lets light pour from his hands and float from them to become magpies, flapping and disappearing through the ceiling, as if to say, 'these are mere trifles, I can do them too'.]

Although- I'm curious to know if your disappearing act takes you further than the confines of a room, if it's more than entertainment.

I don't know if my more "impressive" magic would work on you as it is intended to.

And it does, though again, the rules of the Room are a bit restrictive.

... Would you like to see what I'm working on constructing at the moment?

[entrailbound]

[His eyebrows twitch upwards] You were planning to demonstrate them on me?

[But he patters closer, arms sliding behind him.] Show me.

[Remus was joking, but he decides that the research is more interesting than an explanation. He hefts up two books to display them side by side.]

You see, there are existing spells that render a space impossible to detect unless others know of its existence already. The spell blocks perception, changes memory, makes people subconsciously refuse to enter that space or even know that it exists. I'm intending to strengthen and modify these spells to accommodate for my... monthly changes. The first thing is to find all life within the perimeters of this forest and... well, convince it to leave. Then to set up impenetrable wards to keep me within this space and keep me from harming anything within it. Then to add on the restrictions I mentioned about perception. Then to make sure that this repeats three nights every month.

[He reaches for the books as Remus explains the spell, flipping it open to read through the pages. Magic is magic- it doesn't sound very different from his own processes when he wants to learn a new spell.]

That is a fair amount of work. Your people are more advanced than I'd thought. [He'll... just not mention that he'd thought mortals incapable of even rudimentary sorcery.]

And other werewolves- they must do this as well every month? [It seems strange that Remus seems so isolated. Surely he isn't the only one.]

Some others don't bother at all. They run free intentionally. Harming at will.


Those that are more conscientious chain themselves to walls, hide in cages, keep away from human populations at all costs. Of course, when we change in confinement, we tend to... brutalize ourselves if nothing else is available.
