[ If you've met Yuuki before, there might be something unsettlingly familiar about the girl who's currently curled up in one corner of a sofa. She's utterly absorbed in the contents of the file folder she's got balanced on her legs, until she flips the folder shut and looks up, as if trying to memorize something-- and then her face falls, abruptly. ]

Aw, you're kidding me!

[ She brightens up again quickly, though, tucking the folder under the cushion and addressing the Room at large. ]

Hey, let's play a game. Like, truth or dare, or the question game, or something? Please?

We can't go outside in daylight, I assume that's what you mean. Supposedly my kind can manage on overcast days with heavy sunscreen and full body cover, but it's still a big risk, not really worth taking.

Yeah, that's what I was asking. I was talking to this guy and the whole sunlight thing came up. Do you get really bad sunburns, or...? [ clearly forgetting that truth = one question. ]

How many times have you almost died on one of your extracurricular assignments?

[ Oh gosh. Yuuki seriously contemplates the drink for a few seconds. ]

Define 'almost died.'

[ Suddenly this drink is absolutely fascinating. She stirs it slowly with the skewer of fruit. ] Some things are kinda hard to classify. Like one time I got shot while wearing a bulletproof vest, so I'm not sure if that counts as almost dying, because it hit the vest and all I had was broken ribs. So if you count that, three times. If not, then just twice. [ A shrug and a sigh. ]

[his eyes are narrowed, but he doesn't try to press the issue.]

If you knew how everything was going to turn out, and you actually had a choice, would you choose to be a vampire?

[...he is visibly taken aback by the question. for a moment or two, he doesn't answer or drink.]

[ Okay, she does feel slightly guilty about that one now-- it was only supposed to be slightly uncomfortable. Arashi's question got her remembering arguments she's had with her teachers about what sorts of things are inevitable and whether or not, in certain situations, she had a choice. And 'sorry' doesn't quite seem like the right thing to say, but she can't think of anything else, so... ]

[he's got his own questions he could ask, to qualify hers -- whether or not he would have his choice of how he was turned, whether he would be able to decide the circumstances -- but, in the end, he doesn't bother. there is no way to compare the past to the present. he just drinks.]

[ She waits until Arashi's done drinking before speaking again. ]

Okay, give me another truth. It's only fair.

[you'd think he might take the opportunity to get another shot in, but that question was more than a little disturbing, and it's left him a bit shaken.]

What is your family like?

I don't--

My mom's like me, only instead of destruction, her thing is amplification. My dad doesn't... he's just a normal person, he doesn't have an Alice or anything. They've got an apartment together. I don't think I have any siblings, but we probably still have relatives in Japan.

[he nods slightly.] Sounds nice.

[...fffff. he doesn't really want to pick either, now. but--]

Yeah, sure does.

I dare you to... call or text someone and say something totally crazy, something they'd never expect.

... I'll go easy on you and say no, just as long as it's something they'd never expect.

[sigh.] Shouldn't be hard, then. [he pulls out his phone and types out a text, before showing it to Yuuki.

Just so you know, I'm blowing off work tonight to hit up a strip club.]

[ grins and flashes a thumbs up. ] That's good.

Dare you to find someone you've never met before and talk to them for at least ten minutes -- with a straight face -- about how you're a unicorn trapped in a human body.

I'm gonna need to come up with a good story. I'm Sparklefluffy-- is Sparklefluffy a good name for a unicorn?-- and I'm on a quest to unleash the magical unicorn trapped inside me!

--Oh, gosh, that sounds like a horrible, horrible innuendo. They're going to punch me in the face.
