[Seemingly spending an awful lot of time in ballgowns lately, Narcissa enters the room looking impossibly elegant and more than a tad irritated.

She carries a single shoe in her hand.]

[Andromeda, meanwhile, is dressed in the perfect attire for lounging about the home, appearing as though she only recently woke from a nap.]

[She'd panic that you aren't dressed, An! but... well, nevermind.]

They've all mysteriously disappeared!

[To which she'd stubbornly reply that her dressing gown covered everything important, thank you very much.]

They-- what, are you sure?

[pridegoesbefore]

[She hopes you're wearing nice underwear, at least.]

Of course I'm sure - I'd hardly be running about madly dressed like this otherwise.

[constrictam]

[Well, the cotton is soft?]

You know, I'd take it as an opportunity to stay in.

[Mind you, she looks as though she's taken that opportunity and then some.]

That's because you're horrifically lazy and you hate everybody.

I don't hate everybody, don't be silly. Some I merely dislike.

Mm, aren't I? This was made for me, I'm quite fond of it-- and perhaps it's an unnecessary compliment, but it's still lovely to hear.

[This little girl's just gonna sneak up behind her and grab the shoe. She walks to stand in front of Narcissa and turns it over in her hands before offering it back.

She points at her own left foot (since she can't see Narcissa's under that ballgown) and shrugs.]

[Muffling a hiss of pain as the heel scrapes her skin when the shoe is taken from her, Narcissa absently rubs the tiny injury as the girl completes her mime.]

You're holding my right shoe. All my left ones have disappeared. [One stockinged foot peeps out from under her skirts in evidence.]

[unringing]

[Oh. Well, then. She reaches into the bag on her shoulder and pulls out a small whiteboard and a marker, so she can write:]

Who would take them?

[pridegoesbefore]

[What a peculiar writing implement. Muteness aside, the girl is clearly capable, so Narcissa chooses to overlook the oddity of the situation and simply answer the question.]

...oh, my cousin is the likely culprit, though I can't prove it. He's fifteen and an irritation.

[unringing]

[She pulls a face.]

He doesn't sound very nice.

[After a moment, she adds another line below it.]

A pretty dress deserves pretty shoes.

Opinions are based on experience, and mine tell me he isn't nice at all.

[She trails off as the girl continues writing.]

It certainly does, and as I don't have a single pair left, I'm going to be late for the soiree, and not fashionably so.
