[ Someone is looking in through one of the doors. That's not so uncommon, given the fact that they open into... anywhere, but this person seems to have expected what he's seeing. In fact, it appears as though he's just checking to make sure it actually does exist.

That question has pretty much been answered, naturally. He seems impressed. ]

[ the air he is inviting into the room by hanging there on the threshold is oddly fragrant, a bit dewy, but cold. a somewhat severe little figure sits about three feet away at a table tucked against the connecting wall, and her nostrils flare subtly. ]

You should decide, in or out — [ she speaks up from behind her laptop, where she is currently reassembling her keyboard, ] there's a draft.

[zaoshi]

Oh. Excuse me. [ He glances over his shoulder, and evidently makes the decision that he would rather be in than out, at least for now. He makes sure the door is shut firmly behind him, as well. ]

[tekla]

[ her eyes peer sharply up at him from behind the edge of her monitor and shadows cast down from the ceiling. the nod she gives him is brief, moving past whether there is need for excuses or not in favor of inquiring: ]

Beyond your door — what is it?

[ the more understandable term might have been 'where', but even every misplaced word has a purpose. ]

[zaoshi]

[ He smiles a bit, not unfriendly. ] A very early thaw for the Cambrian Mountains, at least through twilight.

[tekla]

[ the girl seems to consider this for a moment or two, absorbing the information with none too little interest. ]

The cold moisture, [ she replies, sliding another piece together and eyes flicking indicatively down to her exposed motherboard, ] was bad for this. [ the words are dismissive but her tone seems to suggest that, were her computer not so indisposed, she might not have minded that door staying open, perhaps to investigate. ]

[zaoshi]

[ He glances at the hardware with only a minor sense of recognition, but the regret in his voice is sincere when he answers. ] I am very sorry. I would have come in through another door, if I had such a choice. It isn't ruined, is it?

[tekla]

No. It isn't. [ as she speaks, she continues arranging the keyboard, locks it in proper position. ] But I wouldn't want to take it through that door. [ the last piece is screwed into place as she finishes with another (still somewhat monotone) inquiry, ] Is that your home — Wales.

[zaoshi]

It is my little brother's home. [ He gestures politely to her handiwork. ] What is it you're doing?

[tekla]

[ she has a muted interest in the unexpected locale, and in how, even in this quiet room where voices stray from her, his mind carries with it a different... print. but her curiosity is interrupted by a small flash of territorial defensiveness in her eyes before she can quell it. she just manages to keep herself from arranging her body protectively in front of her still black screen. it's over in about 1.5 seconds, but instincts are instincts. ]

Repairing my laptop. The nexus offered me temporary parts.

[zaoshi]

Would you mind if I watch you do it? I know very little about technology, but I find it very interesting.

[tekla]

[ oooookay, now her fingers tighten their grip on the device. she frowns first at the new battery waiting to be installed, then at him. ]

There is not much left to watch...

[zaoshi]

[ Noticing that, he waves a hand and shakes his head. ] Never mind. I don't want to interrupt you when you're nearly finished. I came in just to have a quick look around.

[tekla]

[ she watches him silently for a few moments before seeming to come to some unknown conclusion. she finally closes the laptop, turns it upside down, and reaches for the battery. the movements are sharp and quick, but not rushed, and her eyes are trained on her progress instead of him as she asks, ]

Look for something, or someone?

[fuckvampires]

Are you coming in or what?

[Harvestman is chewing on a cigarette. THE BEST INTRODUCTION, CLEARLY]

[zaoshi]

[ After a brief glance backward, he offers an apologetic smile and closes the door. ] I suppose I am coming in.

[fuckvampires]

[he looks irritated, but who knows. this may be his general state of being.]

Better.

[zaoshi]

I'm sorry. [ He casts his gaze around a moment. ] Was I breaking rules?

[fuckvampires]

There are rules?

[no really, he has no idea.]

Not that nobody's told me. Place is fulla idiots, though, I wouldn't want them knowing where I was coming from.

[zaoshi]

Ah. But the doors change, don't they? Sometimes on request.

[fuckvampires]

Yeah, but I try to make a habit of not underestimating idiots.

[zaoshi]

Well, all right. That is a reasonable point.

[fuckvampires]

I'm fulla them.

[zaoshi]

You must spend a lot of time here. Are you a man of many worlds?

[fuckvampires]

Sorta. Been looking for someone lately, most times I'm hear 'cause I'm bored.

[aaand he bites the cigarette right in half. He pulls out a beat-up pack and extracts another one.]

Fuck - damnit.

[zaoshi]

That is a very unique habit you seem to have. Has there been any sign of this person you've been looking for?
